These guidelines have been developed to assist health employees and other practitioners working in connection with opioid maintenance.
Compliance with these guidelines is mandatory if you are involved in providing opioid maintenance to patients and you are:
- a medical practitioner
- a pharmacist
- an alcohol and other drug service workers
- a nurse or health professionals working in community settings
- operating a hospital
- working in mental health services
- working in a correctional environment.
The focus of these guidelines is to maximise the numbers of practitioners and workers effectively able to treat and support those on opioid maintenance treatment.
