You must comply with these standards if you manufacture, modify or assess registrable light vehicles. Vehicles must comply with these standards and Australian Design Rules set out in Schedule 1 of the regulations if they are to be driven on roads or road related areas. These standards encompass a wide range of a vehicles features including but not limited to:
- turning ability
- drivers view and vehicle controls
- child restraint anchorages
- horns
- mirrors
- size and capacity of wheels and tyres.
