Opioid Dependency Treatment Licence - Australian Capital Territory

Service summary

You will require this licence if you intend to offer opioid dependency treatment services.

The licence authorises a doctor, pharmacist or nurse to deal with opioid maintenance medication. The holder of this licence is authorised to issue, obtain, possess, dispense, supply or administer buprenorphine and/or methadone for the purpose of treating a drug dependent person.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • Submit a written application form
  • Be registered as a qualified pharmacist, nurse or doctor
  • Have the necessary knowledge, training and experience
  • Be a suitable person and of good character
  • Comply with any other requirements that may be set.

Duration

Licences are usually issued for 1 year, however up to 3 year licences may be available subject to some limitations.
