You will require this licence if you intend to offer opioid dependency treatment services.
The licence authorises a doctor, pharmacist or nurse to deal with opioid maintenance medication. The holder of this licence is authorised to issue, obtain, possess, dispense, supply or administer buprenorphine and/or methadone for the purpose of treating a drug dependent person.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
To be eligible for this licence you must:
- Submit a written application form
- Be registered as a qualified pharmacist, nurse or doctor
- Have the necessary knowledge, training and experience
- Be a suitable person and of good character
- Comply with any other requirements that may be set.

Licences are usually issued for 1 year, however up to 3 year licences may be available subject to some limitations.
