You will require this registration if you intend to conduct a business using a radiation source. All radiation sources must be registered individually. Radiation sources that must be registered include:
- X-ray equipment;
- Sealed radioactive sources;
- Apparatus incorporating a sealed source; and
- Accelerated particle beam apparatus.
Registrations are issued by the ACT Radiation Council. The Council meet approximately every six weeks, with all applications needing to be assessed by the Council.
Please use the contact details below to find out more information.
A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
To be eligible to register a radiation source, you must have a radiation licence allowing possession of the radiation source. You must also submit an application, which includes:
- A radiation management plan;
- A radiation shielding design; and
- Any other information as requested by the agency.
Pre-application discussions are recommended, as there are mandatory requirements the applicant must demonstrate prior to a registration being granted.
Please consult the Contact Officer for more information regarding eligibility requirements.
Registrations are usually issued for 1 year, however registrations up to 3 years may be available subject to some limitations.
Please apply directly to the Agency.
