Registration of a Greyhound as a Sire (Greyhound Racing) - Australian Capital Territory

Service summary

A greyhound should not be used as a sire unless it is registered. A sire is a male greyhound used for breeding.

The granting of this registration is conditional on the greyhound being in the control of a stud master. A stud master is the person who will be held responsible for supervising the mating activities of greyhounds. This includes the care, control and / or custody of the sire.

When registration has been granted, you will be provided with a unique identification number.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this registration you must:

  • Be the owner of the greyhound or another authorised person;
  • Provide a DNA fingerprint analysis;
  • Provide a fertility test;
  • Provide all documents and other items in relation to the sire for inspection (if required);
  • Complete the prescribed form; and
  • Pay the prescribed fee.
