Sports Bookmaking Licence - Australian Capital Territory

Service summary

You will require this licence if you intend to operate as a sports bookmaker. Sports bookmakers take or negotiate sport bets on behalf of the general public at sporting events. Sports bookmakers typically operate at large-scale sporting events and are bound by law to operate under current legislation limitations at those events.

Licenses can be granted in three classes:

  • Sole traders;
  • Syndicates of up to four individuals; or

In cases where a bookmaker requires an agent to act on their behalf, you must apply for a Sports Bookmaker's Agent Licence.
