A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
Application to be registered must be in
writing to the waste manager. Those who are registered must comply with waste
The wast manager may refuse the application
- the application is materially
false or misleading; or
- the applicant has, within 2
years before the application was
made committed an offence under this Act
or a corresponding law of a State.
Those who are registered must continue to comply
with the waste legislation. Those who are registered must display their
registration number clearly and permanently on any vehicle used by the
registered waste transporter for transporting waste. The licensee must tell the waste manager of
any changes to details submitted in the application.
Registration is not transferrable.
This licence does not end unless it is surrendered, cancelled or you fail to pay the next licence fee.

Approval or refusal of application must occur within 30 days.
The waste transport vehicle may be approved
to be fitted with a GPS tracking device If you:
- have been convicted of an
offense under waste legislation
- have had this entitlement
previously suspended or cancelled
- are suspected of using a waste transport vehicle
for other purposes.
