Stablehand Licence (Harness Racing) - Australian Capital Territory

Service summary

All Stablehands that assist trainers of harness racing horses must be registered. A registered stablehand is permitted to do the following activities:

  • Carry out track work on registered tracks;
  • Drive at any meeting to prepare a horse to race at that meeting (other than during the horse's immediate pre-race preliminary);
  • Assist with the training, management, care and control of horses; and
  • Assist with the pre-race and post-race procedures affecting the horse.

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • Be at least 14 years of age;
  • Provide a passport sized photo and medical report;
  • Submit the application form; and
  • Pay the relevant application fees.
