Psychologist Registration - Australian Capital Territory

Description

You need to be registered to practise as a psychologist. Registered psychologists study, diagnose and treat the mental processes and behaviour of their patients and can use the protected title of psychologist.

There are three different types of registration offered to practitioners:

  • general
  • provisional
  • non-practising.

The following nine endorsements available for psychologists with additional qualifications and expertise in the following areas of practice:

  • community psychology
  • clinical psychology
  • counselling psychology
  • forensic psychology
  • heath psychology
  • clinical neuropsychology
  • organisational psychology
  • sport and exercise psychology
  • education and development psychology.

Licence

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for registration you must:

  • hold an approved qualification
  • meet the requirements stated in the registration standards.
