Prescribed Radiation or Nuclear Installation Facility Licence - Australian Government

Service summary

You will require this licence if you are a Commonwealth entity (controlled persons) who is engaged in certain conduct in relation to a nuclear installation or a prescribed radiation facility. This includes:

  • Running a facility for the purposes of nuclear installations, such as installing a nuclear reactor for research or production of nuclear materials for industrial or medical use;
  • Contaminated legacy sites;
  • The production, processing, use, storage, management or disposal of certain sources of controlled materials;
  • The use of a particle accelerator;
  • Use of an irradiator; or
  • Other similar purposes.
