Registration as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) - Australian Government

Service summary

You will require this registration if you intend to operate as an Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

RTOs are providers and assessors of nationally recognised training. Only registered training organisations can issue Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) qualifications and statements of attainment in the vocational education and training (VET) sector.

RTOs that have their head office located in either Western Australia or Victoria that deliver the entirety of their training in Western Australia and/or Victoria need to be registered locally at a state level.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this registration you must:

  • comply with all components of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) Quality Framework, including all relevant standards and financial viability and data provision requirements
  • be a fit and proper person
  • have a working knowledge of the national VET system, which includes Training Packages, the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and the VET Quality Framework.
