You may be required to comply with this standard if you intend to manufacture, supply, sell or modify mobile station radiocommunications transmitters.
The purpose of this standard is to regulate the performance of mobile station radiocommunications transmitters to protect the health and safety of people who may be exposed to electromagnetic radiation. The standard applies to a mobile station with an integral antenna that was manufactured, imported or modified after 1 July 2014 and is capable of operating in the frequency band 100kHz to 300GHz. Please see the attached documents for information on the technical requirements and standardised methods of calculating exposure to electromagnetic radiation.
You may be exempt from this standard if the device is to be used for:
- Law enforcement purposes;
- Military purposes; or
- Emergency position indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) or distress beacon purposes.
Please consult the Contact Officer for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance (if any) that may be required.
