Description

You will require this authorisation if you intend to act as a survey authority issuing and endorsing ballast management certificates.

Ballast water is water that is taken on board by vessels to improve stability and manoeuvrability during transit. This water may contain pests, and unmanaged discharge could potentially introduce invasive marine species.

A ballast management certificate certifies that the vessel has a ballast water management plan that has been approved.
