Service summary

You will require these certificates if you are the operator of a regulated Australian vessel, domestic commercial vessel or a recreational vessel that has Australian nationality.

There are several kinds of safety certificates:

  • Passenger ship safety certificate;
  • Passenger ship short voyage safety certificate;
  • Cargo ship safety construction certificate;
  • Cargo ship safety equipment certificate;
  • Cargo ship safety radio certificate;
  • Cargo ship safety certificate;
  • Exemption certificate;
  • Non-SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) certificate;
  • Certificate of survey for a passenger ship;
  • Certificate of survey for a cargo ship; and
  • Certificate of survey for a fishing vessel.

To be eligible for this certificate you must:

  • Fill out the necessary application;
  • Ensure your vessel is operating in accordence to the criteria prescribed by the regulations; and
  • Ensure that if any modification is made to your vessel that you have notified AMSA.
