Offshore Infrastructure Licences - Australian Government

Service summary

You will require this licence if you intend to construct and operate an infrastructure facility in the licence area. An infrastructure facility may relate to petroleum or a greenhouse gas substance.

Note that this licence applies to all locations where a production licence is granted where infrastructure is required.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

Your application must contain detailed information including, but not limited to, information about:

  • Your proposed facilities;
  • Technical capacity;
  • Financial capacity;
  • Data and reports from surveys in regards to the proposed infrastructure;
  • Your development schedule;
  • Technical and commercial arrangements with any closely associated production licence; and
  • Your proposed infrastructure development plan.

Indefinite term. However, the licence may be terminated if no operations are undertaken within 5 years.
