Register as a Higher Education Provider - Australian Government

Description

You will need to register as a provider if you are a regulated entity that intends to offer or grant:

  • Australian higher education awards
  • overseas higher education awards, for courses delivered wholly or mainly in Australia.

A regulated entity is a constitutional corporation established by or under a law of the Commonwealth or Territory, or a person who conducts activities in a Territory.

A regulated entity who is, or intends to become, a higher education provider may apply to TEQSA for registration within a particular provider category.

If an application is made, the entity may also apply to TEQSA for a course of study to be accredited.

Approval time

TEQSA must, within 30 days after receiving a valid application, advise the applicant whether the application is for the appropriate provider category and whether an application for accreditation of a course of study is required. Upon receiving payment of the substantive assessment application fee, TEQSA must made a decision on the application within 9 months, or a longer period as determined by TEQSA.
