Space Licence - Australian Government

Service summary

You will require this licence if you intend to use a particular kind of launch vehicle connected to:

  • Operating of a launch facility in Australia; or
  • Undertaking any activities directly connected with operating a launch facility in Australia.

A launch vehicle is a vehicle that can carry a payload into or back from an area beyond the distance of 100 km above mean sea level. A launch facility is a facility or place specifically designed or constructed as a place from which space objects can be launched.

Up to 20 years subject to an annual review.

Licence

Annual licence fees for a person other than an approved scientific or educational organisation $190 000 and for an approved scientific or educational organisation $1 900.
