Cultural Heritage Export - General Permit - Australian Government

Service summary

You will be required to apply for this permit if you intend to export Australian cultural heritage objects overseas.

This permit enables certain specified Museums, Art Galleries, Libraries and other public collecting institutions to export Australian cultural heritage objects overseas for temporary exhibition and research purposes without the need to obtain individual export permits for each item.

You are only permitted to export objects under this permit if it is exported on loan for research, public exhibition or a similar purpose for a maximum period of two years.
