You will require this licence if you intend to be involved in the intentional release of a Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) into an area outside of a certified facility. The purpose of this licence is to identify and maintain a record of GMOs that have been deliberately exposed to the environment. GMOs are organisms, whether plants or other matter, that have had their genomes altered by humans.
The size of the release can range from small areas under limited and controlled conditions (field trials) through to commercial scale releases.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
To be eligible for this licence you must provide comprehensive information regarding the nature of the GMO you intend to intentionally release. Due to the complicated nature of the application it is recommended you consult directly with the Contact Officer for information on any eligibility requirements.
