You will require this certificate if you intend to undertake specific space-related activities and require an exemption. An exemption for specified space activities is required in order to undertake an activity that may otherwise be prohibited by Australian law.
You can receive exemptions from requiring a space licence and/or permits to conduct a launch in Australia or overseas. Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.
A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
The following factors will be considered when assessing applications for an exemption certificate:
- Whether the conduct is required to deal with an emergency;
- The probability of the conduct causing substantial harm to public health or public safety or causing substantial damage to property;
- The probability of the Commonwealth being exposed to liability, under the Liability Convention or otherwise under international law, for damage caused by the conduct.
