National Livestock Identification Scheme (NLIS) - Australian Government

Service summary

You will be required to comply with the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) if you are a producer, saleyard, processor or have livestock under your control. All livestock under the care of producers, saleyards, and processors are required to be registered and their movements recorded.

The NLIS is Australia's system for the identification and tracing of cattle, goats, lambs and sheep. It is a permanent whole-of-life identification system that enables individual animals to be tracked from property of birth to slaughter for food safety, product integrity and market access purposes.
