Note that this standard has been updated and you will need to meet the requirements set out in AS / NZS 1167.1:2005: Welding and Brazing - Filler Metals - Filler Metal for Brazing and Braze Welding.
You may be required to comply with this standard if you intend to apply for a refrigerant air-conditioning (RAC) industry permit.
A RAC industry permit means any of the following:
- refrigerant handling licence
- refrigerant trading authorisation
- RAC equipment manufacturing authorisation
- halon special permit
- restricted refrigerant trading authorisation.
To be eligible for a permit you must demonstrate your knowledge of any standard relevant to work to be carried out under your permit. You must carry out any work under a permit in accordance with the relevant standard.
The current standard specifies requirements for filler metals in all forms for brazing and braze welding processes. It includes requirements for chemical composition and analysis, packing and marking.
