Description

You may be required to comply with this rule if you intend operate or manufacture light, medium and heavy trailers. This Australian Design Rule (ADR) referenced in the legislation is referred to in the Catalogue as ADR 38 Trailer brake systems. The function of this Australian Design Rule is to specify requirements for braking under both normal and emergency conditions.

Compliance shall be demonstrated by means of procedures outlined in the rule for road testing and / or calculations based on data for approved components. The rule is referenced in the Regulations as a Third Edition Design Rule.
