National Standards for Disability Services - Australian Government

Service summary

You must comply with these standards if you operate a disability service. A disability service is any service that provides employment services and rehabilitation programs for people with disability.

These standards outline the minimum requirements for:

  • Providing individuals with rights
  • Providing meaningful participation and active inclusion in society
  • Building individual strengths and enabling goals to be reached
  • Feedback and complaints
  • Service access

        and

  • Service management.

A code of practice can be either a legal requirement or non-legal requirement. Legal codes of practice are defined as a result of legislation. Non-legal codes of practice are defined by industry regulators and bodies.
