You will require this approval if you are a medical practitioner who intends to supply medicines under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme. This service may be permitted in an area where the community does not have a convenient and efficient pharmaceutical service.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
To be eligible for this approval you must:
- be a licensed medical practitioner
- be working from a location where no pharmacist is operating within a reasonable distance
- be willing to supply PBS medicines to any person in that area who presents with a valid PBS prescription.
Temporary approval for locums may be available.

For the duration of your practise in the area, or until a valid pharmacy opens.
