Service summary

From June 2016, you will require this appointment if you intend to act as an analyst producing written certificates after analysing goods, substances or things for potential biosecurity risks. Biosecurity risks include:

  • the likelihood of a disease or pest entering, establishing itself or spreading in Australia
  • the potential of invasive pests and diseases to cause harm to human, animal or plant health; to the environment or cause economic consequences associated with the entry, establishment or spread of the disease or pest.

These certificates may be used as evidence in proceedings against people contravening biosecurity laws.
