Application to Prescribe Declared Betting Event - New South Wales

Description

You will need to make this application to either prescribe a new event or class of event as a 'declared betting event' or permit a new type of bet to be made on an existing declared betting event.

The Minister for Racing has the ability to declare events that licensed betting service providers and TAB Limited are able to accept bets on. This can be any type of event or class of event, including sporting events, but does not include a race or an event related to racing.

Licensed betting service providers and TAB Limited must adhere to rules approved by the Minister when accepting bets on declared betting events. They include general conditions that must be met when offering betting markets, as well as event specific conditions and definitions.

With your application, you must provide information on the following:

  • the name of the event or class of event to be prescribed, and a complete list of the types of bets to be permitted
  • rationale for prescribing the new event, class of event or type of bet as a declared betting event
  • whether betting is permitted in other jurisdictions on that event and, if so, the types of bets permitted in those jurisdictions
  • any other information that could be reasonably considered relevant to the Minister's decision.
