Natural Gas Reticulator's Authorisation - New South Wales

Service summary

You will require this authorisation if you intend to operate a distribution pipeline for the purposes of conveying natural gas to other entities in New South Wales. A distribution pipeline means the gas pipes and associated equipment that are used to convey and control the transportation of natural gas to the premises of customers, but does not include either:

  • certain pipelines that are licensed under a different Act
  • any gas installation
  • any pipe or associated equipment that is wholly situated on land owned by the person who owns or controls the gas pipe or equipment
  • any gas or associated equipment that the regulations declare to not be a part of a distribution pipeline.

Your authorisation may be subject to conditions. Please consult the Contact Officer before submitting your application and for more information.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this authorisation you must:

  • be considered fit and proper to hold an authorisation
  • have sufficient financial capacity
  • have sufficient technical and operational capacity
  • pay the required fee
  • provide any requested information.

Remains in force until cancelled.



Plus an annul fee based on your share of the total pipeline length in New South Wales.
