Mammal Keeper's Licence - New South Wales

Service summary

You will require this licence if you intend to keep native mammals as pets. The only native mammal licences you may obtain are to keep:

  • The Spinifex Hopping Mouse; or
  • The Plains Rat.

Please be aware that the dingo is the only native mammal that is not protected in NSW. It is also the only native mammal that you can have as a pet without needing a licence.

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • Be over the age of 16 years;
  • Lodge a completed application form; and
  • Pay any required fees.

Applications can be emailed, posted or done online. If applications are completed online the applicants will receive a discount.


Lodge

Payment can only be made by credit card, money order or cheque.
