Large Calibre Pistol Permit - New South Wales

Description

You will need this permit if you intend to use any pistol with a calibre of between .38 inch and .45 inch calibre (that is not otherwise a prohibited pistol) in a specialised shooting competition conducted at an approved range. Specialised events include metallic silhouette or single action shooting.

You must hold a current Category H firearms licence for the genuine reason of sport / target shooting to apply for this permit. This permit will only be granted for this purpose, use of high calibre pistols are otherwise prohibited in NSW.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this permit you must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • hold a full Category H firearms licence
  • be a current member of an approved target shooting club.

If you have never held a firearms licence or permit in NSW, or you do not currently hold an equivalent issued firearms licence or permit interstate, you are required to complete a firearms safety training course and provide evidence of this with your application.
