BASIX Certificate - New South Wales

Description

You will need this certificate if you intend to submit a development application to either:

  • construct a new residential dwelling (such as single house, dual occupancy, townhouse or multi-unit)
  • alter, enlarge or extend buildings with more than one dwelling (other than hotels or motels)
  • undertake a development for the purpose of building a large swimming pool or spa.

A certificate is issued once a Building Sustainability Index (BASIX) assessment has been satisfactorily completed, using the online tool. BASIX ensures new homes are designed and built to use less potable water and produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions.

You are responsible for completing the assessment, ensuring the BASIX commitments are clearly marked on the plans, and submitting the BASIX Certificate with the development application.
