Opal Prospecting Licence - New South Wales

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to prospect for opals commercially. Opal prospecting refers to mineral exploration for opals and must take place in an Opal Prospecting Area (OPA).

Opal Prospecting Licences do not authorise mining. If you intend to undertake mining operations, you will need to apply for a Mineral Claim.

There are four Opal Prospecting Licences. Each licence authorises the holder to carry out prospecting operations only within the boundaries of the opal prospecting block to which this licence relates. These areas are displayed in the 'Map of Lightning Ridge OPAs' document provided.

Applications must be in respect of designated opal prospecting blocks within an Opal Prospecting Area.
