Certificate of Approval / Certificate of Suitability - Electrical Equipment - New South Wales

Service summary

You will require approval for certain declared electrical equipment if you operate as an individual, wholesaler, manufacturer or distributor of Australian or imported electrical equipment. This approval generally applies to domestic appliances to ensure they meet quality, safety and compliance standards prior to being sold.

If your electrical article is in a class that does not require the mandatory Certificate of Approval, you may obtain a Certificate of Suitability. This certificate provides evidence that your article complies with safety standards. This certificate might be required from buyers / retailers you are supplying to, but is not mandatory.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • provide a colour photographs
  • evidence of your qualifications
  • pay any required fees
  • fill out the required forms.
