You will require this approval if you intend to operate an Onsite Sewage Management System.

An Onsite Sewage Management System is the infrastructure designed to hold, process, re-use or discharge, sewage or the by-products of sewage.

Sewage management infrastructure can include artificial wetlands, transpiration beds, mounds, trenches, vegetation, effluent polishing, dispersal or re-use arrangements. It also includes items such as portable toilets, septic tanks, aerobic treatment units, compost toilets, aerated wastewater treatment systems, tanks, beds, sewers, drains, pipes, fittings, fixtures or any other apparatus used for the treatment of sewage.

Please note that plumbing and drainage work in NSW may only be carried out by individuals that hold an endorsed contractor licence, supervisor certificate or tradesperson certificate.
