Permit to Conduct Fundraising Games of Chance - New South Wales

Service summary

You will require this permit if you intend to conduct a game of chance to raise funds for a charitable organisation. A game of chance is a game partly of skill and partly of chance. Fundraising games of chance include:

  • charity housie
  • lucky envelopes
  • chocolate wheels.

  • you may also require a separate approval to fundraise.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for a permit you must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • lodge an application and supply the details specified in the application form
  • comply with the information described in the attached documents.

Prerequisites

Duration

For charity housie - variable but usually 1 year initially, 2 years and then renewable every 5 years. For lucky envelopes / chocolate wheels - maximum period of two years.
