Dangerous Goods Driver's Licence - New South Wales

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to transport more than 500 litres or 500 kilograms of dangerous goods in a road vehicle (e.g. on a trailer, rigid vehicle, B-double trailer or a road-train trailer).

Dangerous goods are substances or articles that present an immediate hazard to people, property or the environment. This includes explosives, gases, flammable liquids and radioactive substances.

This licence is not required for the transport of up to 3000 litres of dangerous goods in intermediate bulk containers (IBC) if the IBCs are not filled or emptied while on the vehicle.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence, you must:

  • complete the required training provided by an appropriate registered training organisation (RTO)
  • be certified as medically fit by a general practitioner
  • have a satisfactory driving history
  • provide identification (passport-sized photographs and a copy of your vehicle driver licence)
  • complete and sign the application form
  • obtain the RTO's certification on the application form
  • submit the application form within 6 months of undertaking the training or the medical assessment.
