Food Safety Auditor Approval - New South Wales

Service summary

You will require this approval if you intend to act as a food safety auditor in NSW. Food safety auditors have the power of an Authorised Officer under the Act to:

  • Carry out audits of businesses' food safety programs;
  • Carry out follow-up actions as a result of audits;
  • Carry out assessments of businesses' compliance with the Food Safety Standards; and
  • Report on the results of your audits to the Authority.

Licence

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval you must:

  • Hold the required technical skills, experience and qualifications;
  • Pay the required fees;
  • Complete a one day training course; and
  • Complete a witness audit.

Please note that there are additional requirements that must be met if you intend to audit high risk businesses.
