Recreation Vehicle Registration - New South Wales

Service summary

You may require this registration if you intend to drive a vehicle in a recreation vehicle area. A recreation vehicle area is an area intended for recreational use, in which most road rules do not apply. Vehicles driven in recreation vehicle areas are required to be registered with either a NSW vehicle registration or a recreation vehicle registration.

Please note that laws prohibiting driving under the influence of alcohol continue to apply in recreation vehicle areas.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this registration, you must:

  • be over the age of sixteen years and nine months
  • ensure that your vehicle is in registrable condition
  • obtain insurance for your vehicle
  • pay the required fee.
