Approval to Conduct Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) Training Courses - New South Wales

Service summary

You will require this approval if you are a registered training organisation (RTO) and intend to conduct training courses on the responsible conduct of gambling (RCG). A RCG course focuses on:

  • harm minimisation requirements
  • detection of problem gambling
  • the proper communication with and management of patrons using gaming machines
  • ensuring that minors are not permitted to use the gaming machines.

Owners and employees of registered clubs and hotels with gaming machines are required to complete a RCG course.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

Each trainer delivering the course must:

  • be part of a registered training organisation (RTO)
  • hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or have another qualification that is considered to be equivalent
  • have at least 3 years' experience as the holder of a managerial or supervisory position in a hotel or registered club
  • in the case of an approval to deliver the course online for a provider nominated by an industry association, the application must be accompanied by written confirmation of that nomination. This must include an explanation of the relationship between the industry association and the provider.
