Owner / Trainer / Attendant Licence - New South Wales

Description

You will need a licence if you intend to become an attendant, owner or trainer of a racing greyhound. The following variations of licence are available:

  • Public Trainer: train greyhounds for racing.
  • Owner / Trainer: train and race greyhounds which you either own outright or part own. If you are a member of a syndicate or partnership you can train and race greyhounds owned by that particular group. If you are a current attendant and 18 years or older you may apply for an owner / trainer licence at any time.
  • Greyhound Attendant: handle, box, catch and generally assist a trainer at a track on race days.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for an owner or trainer licence, you must:

  • be 18 or older
  • have a certificate of completion for the registration knowledge test.

The minimum age for an attendant licence is 15 years of age. However, at 15 years of age you can only work for a licensed family member and you must forward a written reference from your parent/s or guardian supporting your application.
