Authority to Prescribe Methadone or Buprenorphine under the NSW Opioid Treatment Program - New South Wales

Description

You will need this authority if you intend to prescribe methadone or buprenorphine under the NSW Opioid Treatment Program (OTP).

The NSW OTP seeks to reduce the social, economic and health harms associated with opioid use and delivers pharmacotherapy and associated services to opioid dependent patients.

There are two types of authorisation:

  • prescribe methadone or buprenorphine under the new NSW Opioid Treatment Plan
  • temporary interstate transfer to NSW Opioid Treatment Plan.

Please note that there are rules and guidelines that must be adhered to as part of this authorisation process.
