You will need this approval if you intend to become an approved amateur body (AAB). An AAB is a body corporate or other body recommended by the Authority for a specified style or styles of combat sport. An AAB is recognised only for amateur combat sport contests and are required to undertake specific duties at permitted contests.
Combat sport means any sport, material art or activity where the primary objective of each contestant is to strike, kick, hit, throw or punch one or more of the other contestants.
Functions of an AAB include:
- to appoint and oversee the performance of referees, judges and timekeepers officiating at a contest
- to support the combat sport inspector to ensure that the contest is conducted in accordance with the legislation and rules
- to implement risk management policies and procedures in relation to the contest.
