Assisted Reproductive Technology Provider Registration - New South Wales

Service summary

You will require this registration if you intend to provide Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Services. ART services includes:

  • ART treatment;
  • The storage of gametes and embryos for use in ART treatment; and
  • The obtaining of a gamete from a gamete provider for use in ART treatment or for research in connection with ART treatment.

ART treatment means any medical treatment or procedure intended to procure pregnancy in a woman, including artificial insemination, in-vitro fertilisation, gamete intrafallopian transfer and any related treatment or procedure. Separate approval is required to provide ART treatment using a donated gamete obtained from the donor more than 10 years before the treatment.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this registration you must:

  • Ensure that the ART services will be undertaken, or supervised, by a registered medical practitioner;
  • Ensure that counselling services are available to any woman, and her spouse, who seeks ART treatment, and to any person proposing to provide a gamete;
  • Complete the relevant application form; and
  • Pay the required fee.
