Approval to Direct or Procure Entertainment for the Public - New South Wales

Service summary

You will require this approval if you intend to direct, procure or organise a theatrical, musical or other entertainment event that will be presented to the public on community land.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval you must provide proof of your acceptance of the Council's event guidelines.

This approval will often need to include details such as the type of entertainment, proof of public liability insurance, the approximate number of people attending, available parking, a traffic management plan, a waste management plan, the location, date and times of the event.

When you submit your application to Council, you must provide a copy of a relevant public liability insurance certificate of currency. The event holder must have public liability insurance with a minimum single claim value of $AUD 10 million. The insurance must note the interest of Byron Shire Council and of the Crown (where applicable).

Approval time

Please submit your approval to the Council at least four months in advance of your event. Depending on the scale of the event, more than twelve months could be required to address all issues.
