Appointment as an Authorised Buyer of Rice - New South Wales

Service summary

All rice grown in NSW for the domestic rice market must be sold and delivered only to an Authorised Buyer. If you intend to participate in the domestic rice market you must be appointed as an Authorised Buyer.

Please be aware that one company currently holds a licence that gives them the exclusive right to export rice from Australia. Therefore, this licence will not be granted unless the Board is satisfied that the rice grown is intended exclusively for use in Australia. Eligibility requirements

To be eligible as an Authorised Buyer you must:

  • Not have had your appointment revoked during the previous 2 years;
  • Demonstrate that you could comply with the relevant conditions;
  • Provide all the information as outlined in the application form; and
  • Pay the application fee and submit the form.

Your licence will remain in force, unless revoked by the Board.
