Registration of a Group Training Organisation - New South Wales

Description

You will need this registration to become a group training organisation (GTO).

Group Training Organisations employ apprentices and trainees and place them with a host employer for work and on-the-job training. GTO's ensure that employers maintain quality and continuity in delivering employment training. GTO's are also responsible for providing any additional care and support to apprentices and trainees necessary to successfully complete their training contract.

Please be aware that registration is contingent upon assessment and continued compliance with the National Standards for Group Training Organisations. Registration is not mandatory, however it is required if you are seeking to access Government funding.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for registration, you must:

  • meet all the National Standards for Group Training Organisations (2017)
  • submit a Compliance Assessment Report and a GTO registration form
  • pass a Compliance Audit (auditor to be nominated by the authority).

Duration

Organisations not previously approved as a registered GTO in NSW have a registration period of 1 year. Registered GTO's seeking re-registration who have employed less than 10 apprentices and / or trainees in the last 12 months have a registration period of 1 year, and those who have employed greater than 10 apprentices and / or trainees in the last 12 months have a registration period of 3 years.
