Radiation Management Licence - New South Wales

Service summary

You will require this licence if you are responsible for the management of regulated radioactive material. You will be considered responsible for radioactive material if own, store, possess, sell or give away material including:

  • Sealed source devices;
  • Ionising radiation apparatus; and
  • Any radioactive substances.

This licence will authorise you either only to sell radioactive material, or to sell, store or use that material. You may not require this licence if you hold a Radiation User Licence and possess radioactive material solely for the purposes of its use as authorised by that licence, if you possess radioactive material solely for the purposes of its transportation, or if you are responsible for the management of certain types of low-risk radioactive material.

Please be aware that prior to 1 July 2013, individual devices, apparatus and premises (such as x-ray units) had to be individually registered. Now the possession of multiple radiation sources at multiple sites can be authorised by one single management licence.

Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.
