Certificate of Survey for a Commercial Vessel - New South Wales

Service summary

You require this certificate if you intend to operate a commercial vessel in Australian waters. A commercial vessel is any vessel that is used for commercial, government or research activities.

This certificate is required for:

  • All new vessels;
  • Vessels that have had their class or specification changed;
  • Vessels that have been significantly modified; and
  • Vessels that have not previously held valid certification.

Please note that your vessel may have to undergo a safety and construction check before it will be certified.

If you plan to operate a vessel commercially in NSW's waters you are advised to contact the NSW Marine Safety Agency for relevant information.
