This fishery is presently limited entry and no new licences will be issued.
Existing licence holders may temporarily transfer (lease) or permanently transfer (sell) their licence on receiving the Director's approval. Existing licences are subject to a three for one transfer arrangement (eg applicants must buy three existing restricted licences, surrender them to Fisheries and be issued an unrestricted licence).
If the licence is already unrestricted, a one for one transfer situation will apply.
If you purchase a restricted licence you cannot use it until you have completed the three for one arrangement.
Any licence number within the 5000 series has already completed the three for one arrangement.
Stamp duty must be paid on the sale before the Director's approval.
This licence is restricted by fishing units and total allowable effort (days).
A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
Annual (expires 30 June).
$1,180 licence, plus NT Fishing Industry Council Levy (please confirm with Council on application); or
$260 transfer fee (2016-17).

All lease and nomination documents must be approved before fishing commences. Fishing units must be attached to licence. Whoever is fishing must have units in their name.
