This registration enables the holder to issue building permits and occupancy permits under the Northern Territory Building Act, Building Regulations and provisions of the Building Code of Australia.
A Building Certifier is required to hold professional indemnity insurance to a value of $1 million and be a type that is acceptable to the Building Practitioners Board.
If a corporation or firm is a registered building certifier, then they must have a nominated individual who is also registered in the same category.
A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.
A person who holds a degree, diploma, or other educational qualification, required for accreditation as a building surveyor by the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors; and
has at least 4 years practical experience in building surveying in relation to all classes of buildings.
